there's a new helo in town

whoo~ we finally got our name tags. they look kinda ugly though. i prefer the old ones. they seem less ostentatious.

when we ordered our name tags, we had to write our names down on a piece of paper. so you write your name, your class and your college.

my friend wrote S Dona, then 2010 medicine. we go to collect our name tags and lo and behold! his name tag reads S Dona ZOLO. his handwriting must have been really bad for them to have thought 2010 was part of his name. hahaha. well there certainly is plenty of corruption to fight here... =P

we've started on the hema-immunology module. so our labs deal with blood and stuff. the lack of sterility was appalling! for physio lab, we had to do a couple of experiments that needed blood. we had to draw blood from somebody then do a red blood cell count and a white blood cell count. this required filling a pipette up to a certain mark. all we were provided was some really dodgy tubing with a mouthpiece that looked 1. OLD 2.DIRTY 3. covered in TEETH marks. the gal our group who studied med tech took out the mouth piece n fit it into a syringe. so she used that to suck the liquid into the pipette. ALL the other groups just used the mouth piece n sucked up the blood into the pipette. how gross is that?! it's not even their own blood! if that wasn't bad enough, the pricking needles provided *seemed* sterile but we doused it in alcohol just in case. which was a good thing we did cos we found out that they just washed those needles with water and reused them! yuck... and it's not as if it's the common practice. cos everyone thought those needles were sterile! [the tubing on the other hand is another matter altogether]

strange huh?
